Missionaries all over the world

Lost people everywhere

Did you know there are over 250 million unsaved people in North America?
Invite your neighbors to church!

Acts 1:8 - but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be MY witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all of Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest parts of the earth.

The Missions and Evangelism (M&E) Ministry at SRBC strives to motivate and enable members to reach outside of themselves and take the love of Jesus, and the light of the Gospel to the world, and so “bear much fruit” for the Lord (John 15:5).  The “world” starts in our neighborhoods and reaches to the ends of the earth.  M&E are done by disciples of Jesus.  There are many ways to “do” missions, based on culture and available relationships, but they all start with disciples living lives that reflect the love and joy in the Lord.  So, let’s all start there, evangelizing for Him, and asking Him to open doors.  Let’s show our love for people, the way Christ loves them, and tell them about Jesus!

Needs: we have slots for a couple more families!  See Randy Cornell for details.

-   Fall Festival.  This will be in September.  We had a great time last year with barbecue and a Gospel band.  We’ll do at LEAST that much this year.  Needs: detailed plans, volunteers, and PRAYER.  We want to reach the neighborhood more effectively this year, and communicate the Gospel.

Open Doors (Col 4:3)

Opportunities the Lord has shown us, but which currently lack some resource or  schedule.  Please consider where the Lord has gifted you to help with Missions.

-   “Way of the Master” Study. The M&E team has purchased this excellent study for evangelism.  It goes beyond "how to" and covers "why."  Is informative and encouraging.  Plan is to offer this study in the Spring.  Needs: schedule time

-   Angel Tree.  Great program from Focus On the Family. SRBC provides gifts to children of prisoners. Needs: POC, by October.

-   September of ’08 SRBC made a special effort to establish friendly relationships with Hindus, Sikhs, and Muslims in our area.  We visited each place of worship, and met some very nice people.  We need to keep in contact with our new friends.  The M&E Team plans to stay in touch by:
·      Visiting the Durga Temple for some of their “open-to-all dinners on Sunday night.
·      Participating in a joint community project with the Sikhs, and maybe sharing a meal with them.
·      Meeting with some of our Muslim friends for tea, or invite them to our homes.  When we visited them for a Ramadan meal, our ladies could not come (due to a sick baby).  This was very disappointing to the  Muslim ladies.  Perhaps we can  have our ladies try another visit!
·      Invite them all to our church.
Needs:  helpers for projects, and PRAYER

-   Direct-mail contact with local residents. These missive would invite people to the church and to various activities, and present the Gospel. Needs:  POC, composition, schedule

Please contact ECHO if you feel led to volunteer or donate at
http://www.echo-inc.org/ or 703-569-9169
Dreams and Visions (Joel 2:28):
Ideas still in the “formative stage”.  Perhaps one of these projects is a way you can serve and please the Lord.

-   ESL (English as a Second Language)
classes for people of our neighborhood.

-   Assist the Lamb Center

-   Church Planting

-   Community Assistance (local needy people)

-   Regular visits to SRBC of Missionaries

-   Volunteers for “journeyman” projects – extended
“mission trips” for up to two years.

-   A dedicated team of “prayer warriors” to focus on Missions.

-   Helping neighbors share the Gospel with neighbors – holding
events like barbecues and basically helping believers “get out
into the World” with the Gospel

Praises (Col 1:29):

Recently-completed projects for which we praise God

-   47 Buckets O’ Hope for Haiti!  Many people came together
to bring supplies.  Thanks to the Youth and some Girl
Scouts for filling the buckets.  Thanks to Bruce Bunch for
the buckets and Hank and Henry Dodge for delivering them.

-   Over $10,000 given to Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for
    International Missions, 2009/2010.
