Every Summer South Run calls a summer intern who is a college or seminary student to give extra attention to youth and children's ministries for ten weeks. This ministry has an excellent success rate at South Run and is a tradition dating from the beginning of the church. The intern adds focus and energy. We anticipate expanding the intern ministry beyond the six months of the summer because it is a valuable way to train future ministers.

Below is you will find an outline of our expectations and duties involved with the 2010 Intern Ministry

Expectations

  • The interns will have a vibrant, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • The interns will consistently practice personal spiritual disciplines such as prayer, worship and Bible study.
  • The interns will possess requisite skills and gifts for the internship.
  • The interns’ lifestyle will model Christian ethics and character.
  • The interns’ doctrinal understandings will be compatible with those of South Run.
  • The interns will support South Run’s vision, mission and primary objective.
  • The interns will serve in a full-time, temporary capacity for ten weeks.
  • The interns will plan with the senior pastor and appropriate teams.
  • The senior pastor will supervise and mentor the interns.
  • The church will provide salary of $350 per week, housing if needed (in the home of a church family), mileage (when applicable), and some meals.
  • The duties outlined below are relative to personal gifts, skills and talents. Opportunities for ministry may be customized accordingly.

Worship

  • Enrich worship experiences for youth and children.
  • Encourage the personal discipline of worship in the lives of youth and children.
  • Assist with worship, children’s church and children’s sermons.

Evangelism

  • Lead youth and children to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Plan and lead mission trips and mission projects for youth and children.
  • Encourage the personal discipline of evangelism in lives of youth and children.

Discipleship

  • Disciple youth and children individually and in groups.
  • Teach the Bible; lead youth and children to apply it to their lives.
  • Develop the personal discipline of discipleship in the lives of youth and children.

Fellowship

  • Produce life-changing relationships with God and others.
  • Plan and lead fellowship building events for youth and children.
  • Lead youth and children to meaningfully connect with members and newcomers.
  • Develop the personal discipline of fellowship in the lives of youth and children.

Ministry

  • Plan and lead ministry opportunities for youth and children.
  • Cultivate leadership skills in youth and children.
  • Lead youth and children to recognize God’s call in their lives.
  • Develop the personal discipline of ministry in the lives of youth and children.
  • Support parents and current ministry teams.

Mother's of Preschoolers

South Run will be starting a MOPS group on Tuesday January 3rd, 2012

MOPS is a program for mothers of preschoolers.  We will meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 9:30am-11:30am for fellowship, speakers, crafts, and support.  Child care will be provided.  If you would like more information about MOPS check out the website www.mops.org

Registration for MOPS will be held Tuesday, December 6th from 9:30am-11:30am at South Run Baptist Church. Cost of Registration is $50 not including the required MOPS International membership costing $23.95.
